It's actually not her child. The child's parents are Jan's wife and Ideal Plantsim, so Tanya and Jan are actually not related.

Though that would be a totally weird scenario - getting together with your step-child. Woody Allen, anyone? And there was another one more recently, can't remember who.

It just seems weird to me and wrong. I have had similar issues before of the game not counting step-families, it annoys me a bit.

I just have to say that if I had no idea what the context for this sentence was, I'd be very, very confused. It's kind of fabulous, in its way.
